After Bhishma falls, Drona leads the Kaurava forces. The Pandavas face intricate formations, including the circular chakravyuha. Young Abhimanyu enters the formation bravely but is surrounded and killed in violation of fair combat ideals. His death becomes one of the epic’s most painful examples of the cost of war.
